IBS Low Power Antenna (In-Building System refer Section 5.1 of RFSCP)
Cat 1 IBC = General Public Limit not exceeding 100mm from any one antenna
Cat 2 IBC = General Public exceeding 100mm from any one antenna (treated as per Micro / Macro sites)

MERCS-1 – RF Hazard Area
MERCS 1 signage is used to identify RF hazard areas at all Optus macro sites including rooftop sites. Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual 2, Optus specific requirements are listed below.
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus Site Signage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- The Supplier will install this sign at all Optus greenfield sites, including rooftop sites.
- The Supplier will ensure that this sign is also installed at all existing sites during siteupgrades. If the sign is missing at the required locations, the Supplier will supply and install.
- The sign used will be 400mm x 350mm metal.
MERCS-2 – MCF Information Sign
MERCS 2 signage is used to direct community members to the RFNSA / Facility manager. Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual 2, Optus specific requirements are listed below:
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus SiteSignage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- The Supplier will install this sign at all Optus macro greenfield sites (ground sites androoftops).The Supplier will ensure that this sign is also installed at all existing sites during site upgrades; if the sign is missing at the required locations, the Supplier will supply and install.
- The sign installed on Rooftop sites will be in the same location as MERCS1 sign.Sign used will be 250mm x 180mm metal.
- The NSA site number will be entered on the sign will be either: metal stamp / punched or UV resistant black text stickers. Marker pens / texters are not permitted.
MERCS-3 – General Public RF Hazard Sign
MERCS 3 signage is used identify areas that exceed General public limits.Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual 2, Optusspecific requirements are listed below.
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus SiteSignage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- EME boundaries, suitable barriers and sign locations will be indicated on the Site Drawings.
- The sign used will be 400mm x 350mm metal.
MERCS-4 – Occupational RF Hazard Sign
MERCS 4 signage is used identify areas that exceed Occupational limits.Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual v2Optus specific requirements are listed below:
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus SiteSignage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- EME boundaries, suitable barriers and sign locations will be indicated on the Site Drawings.
- The sign used will be 400mm x 350mm metal.
MERCS-5 – Transmitting Antenna Sign
MERCS 5 signage is used to identify transmitting antennas.Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual v2Optus specific requirements are listed below:
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus Site Signage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- The sign used will be 100mm triangle shaped self-adhesive (sticker type) affixed to the backof each antenna.
- The sign used to warn personnel of the presence of an overhead RF hazard will be 200mm triangular metal
MERCS-6 – Transmitting Microwave Sign
MERCS 6 signage is used to identify low power transmitting microwave antennas. Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual v2 Optus specific requirements are listed below:
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus Site Signage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- The sign used will be 200mm x 110mm, self-adhesive (sticker type).
MERCS-7 – Concealed Antenna Sign
MERCS 7 signage is used to identify location of concealed transmitting antennas. Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual v2 Optus specific requirements are listed below.
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus Site Signage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- The sign used will be 300mm x 165mm Polyprop.
- Consideration will be given to the placement of the sign so that is does not degrade the visualamenity of the screening, concealment or the disguise whilst also complying with RFSCP Manual 2 installation requirements.
MERCS-8 (A, B or C) – Microcell Signs
MERCS 8 signage is used to identify areas that exceed General Public limits at microcell sites. Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual v2 Optus specific requirements are listed below:
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus SiteSignage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- Preferred sign is to be 200mm x 100mm metal.
- Also refer to addition requirements in 6.5 Signage on Power Authority Poles.
MERCS-9 – In-Building Systems Sign
MERCS 9 signage is used to identify all low power transmitting antennas in almost all in-building (IBC) sites.Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual v2 Optus specific requirements are listed below:
- 1. The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus Site Signage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- No Optus specific requirements.
MERCS-10 – Repeater Systems Sign
MERCS 10 signage is used to identify all transmitting antennas at repeater sites. Antennas may be low or high power Signage will be installed as per RFSCP Manual 2 requirements. In addition to RFSCP Manual v2 Optus specific requirements are listed below :
- The sign requirements will be indicated on the site drawings which may refer to Optus Site Signage standard drawings OSD-170, 180, 190 & 191.
- No Optus specific requirements.
